It is very important to
label food & drink items with information about where
(e.g. in the fridge; in an airtight container) & how they
should be stored. You also need to give your recipient an idea of when
the gift should be consumed by. It is also a good idea to give a full
list of the ingredients, especially if you aren't sure about
allergies/intolerances. Take advantage of having to
give all this information & create attractive labels on your PC
- even better if you can find some suitable images to further beautify
them. It's also a nice touch to include a little 'serving suggestion'
along with the gift, e.g. plum chutney is great with a curry, quince
vodka makes a great after dinner drink, membrillo is fabulous with
cheese, etc., etc. Don't ruin your hard work by
spoiling your gift with poor presentation. Invest in good food
grade cellophane or food bags to ensure that gifts are not tainted
& keep at their best for longest. Save any
biscuit tins that you receive so that you can recycle them as
containters for Christmas gifts. Save
attractive jam jars, lids, bottles (especially clip top versions) too.
You could decorate the glass bottles using glass paints too. If
you are feeling especially creative you might consider making papier
mache boxes for the recipients of your sweets & fudge.
