Back to Christmas tree decorations This
is a fun project and can get slightly addictive. You will need: Used
Christmas cards Tacky glue Ruler Protractor Pencil Cord/ribbon
for hanging Circular template Method: Select
some Christmas cards with toning colours (or not if you are going for a more dramatic look!) & cut 20 small
circles of about 3cm in diameter using your circular template (a small
jar lid is good for creating the template). Use your protractor to draw a
triangle with 60 degree angles on the back of one your circles
& then make the folds along the lines. Do the same with all the other pieces - although you will find you don't need to draw
triangles on all the circles - you can use your first as a guide for all
the others. Then take 5 folded circles & glue them together as in the 2nd photo.
Then take another 5 & glue them together in exactly the same
way. There will be a hole where the 5 sections meet - take the chance to
thread your hanging cord through this now - securing with a knot
& a little bit of glue (you can see that we forgot when creating this example!).
The final
10 circles now need to be glued together in a long line, as you can see
in the 3rd photo. Then, carefully
glue the 2 ends of the long section together to create a circle. Now
attach the top section to the upper flaps of the band you have just
created. The fit will not be exact, but you can ease everything into
place fairl neatly. Now leave this to dry before gluing the bottom
section to the bottom flaps of the band. And that's it. Now do another
one, and another, and another... |
